Express Mail Mailing Label
Definition: Patent correspondence delivered to the USPTO via the "Express Mail Post Office to Addressee" service of the USPS which is considered filed in the Office on the date of deposit with the USPS.
Combination Patent
Definition: A patent granted for an invention that unites existing components in a novel way.
Contracting State
Definition: A national Office or an intergovernmental organization which is party to the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
Defensive publication
Definition: A publication and disclosure to the public of a pending patent application.
Assignee
Definition: The entity that is the recipient of a transfer of a patent application, patent, trademark application or trademark registration from its owner of record.
Arbitrary Marks
Definition: Comprise words that are in common linguistic use but, when used to identify particular goods or services, do not suggest or describe a significant ingredient.
